What to Expect During Your Assessment

A CareFlex Seating Assessor will visit the home, accompanied by the local OT or carer. Together, they will discuss postural needs, pressure care requirements, adjustability preferences, living arrangements, and medical background. This collaborative approach enables the identification of the best seating or equipment solution. 

During the assessment, we will focus on:

• Usage: Understanding how long the chair will be used and for what activities.
• Accessibility: Evaluating access to your home and between rooms.
• Supervision: Determining who will be overseeing the chair and its user.
• Transfer Methods: Discussing how you will safely transfer in and out of the chair.
• Integration: Ensuring the chair fits well with other equipment and products in your environment.

At the end of the assessment, we’ll agree on the most suitable setup of specialist seating and accessories to meet everyone’s needs. You’ll receive a written quotation that can be used to order your chair.

Our Assessment Process

The seating assessment typically takes a whole morning or afternoon. This duration is important to ensure the user feels comfortable and relaxed in the chair, as this affects muscle tone and provides a better indication of how the chair will support them in daily life.

Once the user is comfortable, we can evaluate the chair’s suitability, size and fit. If needed, we may recommend accessories to improve positioning or suggest bespoke modifications for enhanced comfort and posture management.
